
On Thursday, October 5, 2006 the Louis T. Savino, III Foundation provided a grant to the Pennsbury Boys Soccer Program to be used for a Cardiac Screening Program.
Approximately 40 members of the soccer program received an echocardiogram test performed by PlaySafe, a division of Newtown-based Ultrasound Services, Inc. Pennsbury is the first local high school athletic program to participate in the PlaySafe / Temple University Cardiology screening.
To identify young men and women who may be at risk for sudden cardiac death. The standard pre-sports participation physical exam may not go far enough to identify the cardiovascular abnormalities and undetected heart conditions.
