Latest Sudden Cardiac Death Cases / News
Undetected heart disorders contribute to a disturbing number of sudden cardiac deaths in kids ages 5-18 in the United States each year.
Due to the absence of a National Sudden Cardiac Death Register, the Savino Foundation tracks stories from reputable news sources by conducting daily on-line searches. Sadly, the numbers have increased since the year 2000 and they typically locate 10-15 SCD cases within the US.
These cases occur during gym class, practice sessions and games for sports such as football, soccer, track, basketball and baseball, to name a few.

Parent Heart Watch
A group of parents from across the United States, who have all lost children to sudden cardiac arrest, have formed a group called Parent Heart Watch. This group is trying to prevent this from happening by providing awareness, Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in all schools, and better cardiac screenings for sports physicals.
